Assembly was simple and easy. The instructions were very concise and clear, and we had the Garelick 89416 ready to go in about 15 minutes.
Garelick 89416 16-Foot Aluminum Snow Roof Rake – Nice Design and Very Effective
The Garelick 89416 aluminum snow roof rake is a combination of intelligent design and ease of use.
The heavy gauge aluminum handle and extensions are very strong, but still lightweight enough to move around with relative ease.
The “no slip” grip at the base of the handle is effective even if you are using heavy gloves or mittens; and it seems to get tackier for an even better grip when the handle gets wet.
And adding the extensions are a piece of cake. They use a simple, snap together construction that allows you to add the handle extensions very easily.
And even when fully extended, the Garelick 89416 comes in at around 5 ½ pounds… So it is easy to get this roof rake where you want it while standing on the ground.
The Garelick 89416 also uses its patented “Shingle Saver” technology on the snow blade. This is the simple (but smart) addition of two poly/plastic rollers at the bottom of the snow blade which allows you to pull the snow off the roof without the blade actually coming into contact with the shingles.
Like adding wheels to luggage, this is a simple yet ingenious idea that makes the Garelick 89416 snow roof rake not only easy to use; but eliminates any possible damage to your new roofing shingles or tiles.
And it also makes it easier to position on the roof as you can lay it on the roof, and use the rollers to push it back up into place for your next pass.
And the 24 inch by 7 inch snow blade is wide enough that you can pull a lot of snow off with each pass; and the extra width cuts down on the amount of time you spend working on the job.

If you have a single story, ranch style home, then the Garelick 89416 is perfect for your roof. The 16 foot extension makes it easy to get to the peaks of the roof, and it is light enough to be used safely on a ladder if you need the extra height.
When fully extended, it gets a little wobbly at the far end; which is why you can use the roller and place this roof rake on the roof and position it where you want.
And watch out for any loosening of the nuts on the two support struts; they have a tendency to work themselves loose with repeated use, so check their tightness before you put this snow roof rake to use each time.
